Tessera Phygitals

Mesmerizing artworks created using small tiles cut out of vintage art prints.

Four categories, endless choice

Still Life

A bouquet of flowers, a table with objects, a fruit bowl, a vanitas.

Scene

Finding figures in a range of settings. Art is storytelling.

Landscape

The magnificence of landscapes, forests, mountains and skylines.

Bust

The immersive depth of portrait art around people and animals.

Each mosaic is like a painting, where each tile literally is a piece of paint.

A ticket’s journey

The ticket journey is designed for collectors and art lovers to receive a unique physical Tessera piece after their likings, have it shipped to their home and hold a corresponding NFT in their wallet. Staying in touch is paramount. I expect every ticket minter to reach out, allowing me to remain connected and communicate directly.

I’ve built a thoughtful process to grow this community and to allow the collection itself to be shaped by taste and the community’s preferences.

These tickets, and future claim cards, are not investment vehicles. They function as IOUs and provide the means to participate in the process.

Rules to the game

It is paramount for me to get in touch with the ticket holders and communicate.
If you minted a ticket please reach out on X or in the Discord!

After having created the runway I will start to create and aim for 2 pieces each week, reaching the journey’s end in ± one year after starting the physical process.

When your turn is up you have a week to engage and communicate your request.

You can request a piece in any category using the tile source of your ticket. A new piece will be created as a proposal, with the option for the ticket holder to deny it if it is just not exactly after one’s taste. If denied the ticket will then drop a cycle, from A to B, C and D.

No.
You can deny the proposed artwork and wait for another turn. In this case the ticket will drop a cycle, from A to B, C, and D.

A cycle impacts your place in line. If you requested a piece but deny the proposed artwork your ticket moves to the end of the line.
1-A will move to 1-B. Number 1-B will be behind number 96-A. Once the full A-cycle is completed all tickets still in the pool be in cycle B, etc.

If a ticket is ghosting and shows zero engagement it will drop cycles automatically.

No.
The cycles A, B, C and D refer ONLY to the place in line.
Entering a shuffle is open to anyone holding the matching ‘category’, regardless of ticket cycle.

Image tickets 28, 29 and 30 are next in line and up for requests.

Week 1:
Reaching out to ticket 28. Holder has one weeks time to engage.
Week 2:
Creating piece for 28. Reaching out to 29.
Week 3:
Proposing piece to 28. Creating piece for 29. Reaching out to 30.

Etc.

With cycles A-B-C-D each ticket holder has four chances to engage and have a piece created upon request.
I am striving -as always- to create the best art I can. Let’s assume we figure this out and get the piece out you really love.
If not we will find a solution.

Ticket cycle does NOT interfere with the ability to enter category shuffles. You can always enter the shuffle, regardless of cycle.

Failsaves

On a decentralized ledger I anticipate for Tickets and Claim Cards to be traded or flipped before being used to accept or claim.

Given the nature of the project i.e. hosting a physical database of tiles and stocking physical pieces, it is not feasible to give these Tickets/Cards an indefinite lifespan. It would be impossible to voluntarily host such backend at no cost.

Therefore the Dynamic NFT, both with “Status” = “Ticket” or “Claim Card”, will have a lifecycle and lifespan.

Yes.
A Ticket needs to be actively engaging to acquire an NFT + Claim Card, using the ‘Place in line’ ór by entering shuffles. If a ticket stays inactive the ticket will still automatically consume the ‘place in line’ cycles. There will be max. four cycles. (A,B,C,D).

If a ticket does not engage at all with the project, Tessera will assume a ‘deny’ each time the number is up, and drop the ticket one cycle. In the event where there are only ‘inactive’ tickets remaining that all already reached the ‘D’ cycle, the journey has come to an end. These tickets will be given a last grace period of 32 days to engage (i.e. request)

A ticket is minted with the commitment to engage and acquire a physical piece.
If a ticket is not consumed,  and multiple attempts to get in touch with the holder have failed after it’s full lifespan, the ticket will be burned.

The ticket itself will be reminted into the collection for another collector to be able to enter.

Yes.
A Claim Card gives right to claim the physical piece associated with the NFT. (Shipping costs due upon claim).

The Claim Card has a lifespan of ONE year for people to actively claim their piece. This year starts the moment a ticket holder accepts an artwork.

There is an option to not claim, but instead list the physical piece in Tessera Shop for web2 audiences (see below under ‘Ownership’).

Ownership

Yes.

After you used your ticket to acquire your piece, your ticket will mutate to a Claim Card with a lifespan of one year. The Art NFT will be a fresh mint (without mutable flag) and dropped to your wallet.

Both the Art NFT and the Claim Card are two separate NFTs in your wallet that can be traded independently. The Claim Card has a lifespan of one year.

You can sell the Claim Card and the new owner can claim the physical piece (within it’s lifespan) and pay for the shipping. One doesn’t need to hold both to be able to claim.

Instead of claiming the physical piece, holders may choose to have it sold through Tessera Shop. The Claim Card will then be mutated into ‘Shop Stock’ and the physical piece will be listed for retail price (in fiat) to the broader web2 audience.

After deducting the mint price (USD) and VAT, revenue is shared 50/50 with the Tessera project. More details will follow.

Shipping

When shipping is arranged I will provide a dedicated payment link through Tessera Shop with a form the provide the necessary details in a secured environment.

All personal details provided for shipping will of course be treated strictly confidential and removed immediately after shipping is completed.

Yes. With some exceptions. See this list to check countries excluded from shipping.

Pieces will be shipped with proper paperwork, HS codes and declaration for smooth clearance with customs.
Shipping will be DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) calculated upfront to remove friction.

Shipping costs aren’t included in the mint price and will be calculated upon claim for each specific shipping zone.
Rates and import differ hugely across regions (US, EU, CAN, AUS). There’s no single flat fee.
Costs may vary over the course of the Phygital journey.

Combined shipping if you claim multiple pieces lowers the cost per item.

Currently shipping costs per piece are quoted as follows:

EU: ±€35 – €45, depending on distance from the Netherlands.
USA+Canada:  ±$60 shipping (FedEx Economy) + ±$60 duties/tax/import.
Australia: ±$146 (220 AUSD) (FedEx Economy) + ±$60 duties/tax/import.

In many regions it may be possible to send to e.g. a DHL Delivery point. Shipping costs may vary and increase for this service.
It is then still needed to provide a valid e-mail and full name to be able to pick it up with proper ID.

Artwork

Working with tiles imposes specific limits in detail, palette, and expression. Defining categories helps structure the creative process and ensures high-quality outputs. The selected themes are the result of months of experimentation using full-scale draft tiles to refine proportion, composition, and color fields.

The artwork is composed of 32×32 tiles of 16 mm each, resulting in a 50×50 cm (1.64 ft) piece.
Every work is set in a wooden floating frame, available in white, black, or natural, and includes a certificate of authenticity.

The mint price reflects roughly a 70% discount compared to gallery retail pricing, and includes the Art NFT at no extra cost.
By removing intermediaries, focusing on a web3 audience, consolidating production, and sourcing materials in bulk (including framing), the project can offer a significantly reduced price.
